INSURANCE FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES  :  INDIVIDUAL HEALTH
AIG CriticalCare® Plus

While the chances of surviving a critical illness such as cancer, heart attack or stroke are greater than ever, living with the condition can create severe financial hardships.

Traditional health insurance plans cover medical expenses, but costs such as insurance deductibles, child care, travel to and from treatment facilities, and short-term home health care must often be paid out-of-pocket by the patient.

While disability insurance policies will replace lost income, they may require a lengthy waiting period to take effect.

We designed AIG CriticalCare® Plus supplemental health insurance to help cover the additional expenses associated with a critical illness diagnosis. The benefit is paid directly to you to use as you see fit — regardless of what is covered by your other insurance plans.

Policy Highlights1

  • Pays a tax-free (based on current federal income tax laws) single-payment benefit regardless of what is covered by other sources — up to $500,000 — directly to the policy holder
  • Pays all benefits directly to the policy holder (unless payment is assigned to a healthcare provider), regardless of what is covered by traditional health plans
  • Can cover a broad range of conditions most likely to cause major lifestyle changes, including cancer, heart attack, stroke and kidney failure
  • Can cover the Loss of Independent Living Benefit, which covers the inability to perform at least two of six activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, continence and eating
  • Can cover spouse and children on the same policy
  • Preventive Care Benefit pays up to $50 a year for a wide variety of medical tests
  • Free membership in Best Doctors® referral service, should the policy holder pursue a specialist for a second opinion 2
  • Return of Premium Feature: Premiums paid under this policy may be returned to the policy owner upon death of the insured. The amount refunded will be equal to the total premium paid from the original effective date less any benefits previously paid under the policy.3

  • Fully underwritten for amounts over $100,000
  • Non-medical underwriting up to $100,000

Available Riders4

  • The Benefit Extension Rider5 provides coverage for additional diagnoses of a critical illness and delivers
benefits beyond that of the base policy for:
